Nr. Weymouth, Dorset
Bakehouse CottageKitchenSitting roomBakehouse Cottage from gardenDining roomBedroomBedroom
Bakehouse Cottage is next door to St Anthony's, fronting onto Shop Lane with gardens front and rear, the rear looking across an open field. The cottage is an old, traditional Dorset cottage on 3 levels with narrow, steep staircases, making it unsuitable for anyone with very limited mobility.

The cottage is comfortable and beautifully appointed, offering guests:
  • 4 bedrooms sleeping 8 people
    (2 doubles and 2 twin-bedded rooms)
  • Bathroom and 2 shower rooms
  • Fireplace with wood-burning stove
  • Kitchen with stone floor and range cooker
  • Original paintings by local artists
  • A 2-minute walk to The Elm Tree Inn
  • A Broadband service (at a small extra cost)
On the ground floor is a good-sized sitting room, fireplace (with wood-burning stove) and TV/VCR/DVD/CD player. The sitting room connects with a dining room and through to the kitchen. The kitchen provides a range cooker, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. The rear entrance to the kitchen is via a utility room with hanging space for outdoor wear; washer and dryer; and separate shower room (WC, shower and washbasin).

From the dining room there is access to an inner hall with staircase (up) and a couple of steps (down) to a ground floor double bedroom. On the first floor is a double bedroom, a twin-bedded room, a bathroom and a shower room. Each bedroom is carpeted, centrally heated and well equipped with wardrobe and chest of drawers. From the landing is access to the flight of stairs to the second floor twin bedroom.

To the rear there is a paved patio area and garden. The garden abuts one of Higher Farm's fields. Patio chairs, a table and a barbecue are all provided. A double garage is adjacent to the property with additional parking available by the farm entrance. The cottage is a stones throw, literally, from the church and the local village pub (serves food).

The property is available throughout the year - the area around the village being particularly popular with walkers.  Within a half-mile walk lie the Fleet, Chesil Beach and the Southwest Coastal Path. Weymouth, Dorchester, Abbotsbury and Bridport are all only a short drive away. Further afield are Corfe Castle, Poole, Blandford Forum, Lyme Regis and Bournemouth.  For further details please visit our Things to do in Dorset page.
