Higher Farm Cottage, Langton Herring
Nr. Weymouth, Dorset
Higher Farm CottageRear, walled gardenKitchenSitting roomMain bedroomSitting room
Higher Farm Cottage sits at the edge of the village near the entrance to Higher Farm.  It is a Grade II-listed building dating from around 1690.  The cottage is beautiful, comfortable and modern, whilst retaining all of its original character and charm.  Unfortunately, this makes it unsuitable for those with limited mobility, the stairs in particular being narrow and steep.

Sleeping 8, this traditional and beautifully appointed cottage offers:
  • 3 double bedrooms
  • 2 single bedrooms (one with cot)
  • Two bathrooms plus cloakroom
  • Two-oven Aga in kitchen
  • Large woodburner and inglenook
  • Natural stones floors and exposed beams
  • Original paintings by local artists
  • A 3-minute walk to The Elm Tree Inn
  • A Broadband service (at a small extra cost)
On the ground floor are an entrance hall, cloakroom, sitting room and kitchen/dining room with doors to the patio and walled garden.

On the first floor are 3 bedrooms (one large double and two singles, one with cot) and a bathroom with separate shower. The second floor offers 2 double bedrooms and a further bathroom, again with separate shower.

The kitchen is of a high standard, boasting stone floor, granite surfaces and oil-fired Aga. In addition to the Aga (always an experience!) is a conventional cooker/hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, dryer and dishwasher. The cottage has full central heating.

From the kitchen, French windows open on to the walled rear garden and patio. The rear garden has lockable gates, which is great if you have young children. Teak garden furniture and a barbecue are provided and two lockable outhouses offer safe storage for bikes and other equipment. A double garage is available adjacent to the cottage with parking for further vehicles.  The cottage is a stones throw, literally, from the church and the local village pub (serves food).

The property is available throughout the year - the area around Langton Herring village being particularly popular with walkers. Within a half-mile walk lie the Fleet, Chesil Beach and the Southwest Coastal Path. Weymouth, Dorchester, Abbotsbury and Bridport are all only a short drive away. Further afield are Corfe Castle, Poole, Blandford Forum, Lyme Regis and Bournemouth.
