Hout Bay Beach

Enjoy the delights of Hout Bay beach, especially popular with children. Good for games, swimming, sunbathing, pleasant walks or just relaxing.

Whales are frequently seen in the bay between September and December and seals also abound. Why not take a boat trip to "Seal Island" from the harbour?

The main entrance to the Sea Glade complex is on Milner Avenue and is shown here. The complex is fully secure and access is via electronically controlled gates.

There are telephone facilities at the gate that enable visitors to call the house and they can be admitted by a remote control function.

No.6, The Glades has wonderful views looking towards Table Mountain which take in the range of the Twelve Apostles and which extend from Cape Town to Hout Bay.
No.9, The Glades has sea views over the bay towards Chapman's Peak.

The Coast Road drive along the Atlantic seaboard from Hout Bay to Cape Town passing by Llandudno and through Camps Bay, Clifton and Sea Point with the Twelve Apostles rising majestically from the sea is spectacular.

The swimmimg pool, within the complex, is attractive and shaded by trees and shrubs.

Safe for children it is fenced and there is a toddlers paddling pool as well as a full depth pool alongside.

The surrounding area is grassed and excellent for sunbathing. Should it get too hot there is also a sheltered seating area.

Tennis Court

Should you feel the urge to be more energetic the tennis court beckons.

Racquets and balls are available in the houses.

The net is in the box by the court.

Don't forget your sunhat, sunglasses and sun lotion!

A five to ten minute walk from Sea Glade will take you to the harbour where boats take tourists around the coast and to Seal Island. Whales may be seen between September and December. Restaurants and shopping are available in the town.
Mariner's Wharf Restaurant sits between the beach and the harbour. It is an excellent seafood restaurant with inside and outside dining; on the ground floor is a seafood takeaway and a seafood market selling all types of fresh and frozen fish and shellfish.

Harbour Market

A regular craft market is held on the harbourfront displaying a wide variety of African arts and crafts.

Wood carvings, beadwork, ostrich eggs (plain and richly decorated), textiles, furniture etc.

An even wider range of objects is available at the regular Sunday craft market held in the centre of Hout Bay.

A few further strides will take you to the marina with a vast range of up to the minute luxury yachts and "gin palaces".

It must not be forgotten that Hout Bay is very much a "fishing village" and alongside the marina is the working harbour where the exotic catches are landed daily.
